It’s that time of year again to honor those whose work we’ve been obsessed with since it dropped and, unfortunately, pour a drink for those snubbed.

Going into this year's list, I have to be quite honest: all I cared about was Sabrina and her nominations. She has just had such a monumental year, and she deserves at least some recognition for it. She is nominated in 6 different categories, some being the major categories such as Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, just to name a few. She is an incredible artist who has been doing incredible work, and as a long-time fan, it is so amazing to see her get the recognition that she deserves.

Beyonce, also competing in a lot of these big categories, as it should be, has earned herself the most this year with 11 nominations for this year but a whopping 99 nominations throughout her career. This solidifies her as the most nominated artist in Grammy history! Will Cowboy Carter finally earn Album of the Year? While the category is stacked with the likes of Andre 3000, Billie Eilish, Chapel Roan, Charlie XCX, Jacob Collier, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift, I do believe this year will be her year. Not only has this genre shift shaken the music industry, as a powerhouse like Beyonce so often does, but it is just a masterpiece of an album and bares so much of her soul, which we’ve never seen before. If Beyonce doesn’t walk away this year with the AOTY award, we need to question the institution further, as it is rigged.

Charli XCX has had an incredible year with the cultural significance of brat and its many remixes. This year, Charli has earned herself seven nominations in some major categories, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Pop Solo & Duo Performance. Even though it has had massive success not only within the dance-pop lover's community but even culturally. Everyone across the board agreed that everything with a tinge of green was representing “brat summer” to our current Vice President, Kamala Harris, running part of her social media campaign around being the “brat candidate” (We love you, Kamala). Not to mention the countless TikTok dances sweeping the FYP TL, but now that some other artist may have been snubbed, Charli’s nominations have come into question across X. Which, let's be FR, is not very brat of ya’ll. This album is not only such an incredible and fun work in itself but has created a space for itself as being one of the most defining things of 2024. Of course, nominations aren’t solely based on how much something has impacted our summers and social media accounts, but there’s no denying that it’s Charli XCX at her very best.

One of the year's biggest snubs has to go to Ariana Grande and the Eternal Sunshine album. While it’s not my personal favorite of her catalog, should we be calling it a snub even if it still has three nominations? Do snubs only quantify if an artist who, in the past, has had nominations in the big categories no longer has them in the next qualifying years? I think Eternal Sunshine was a good album, but apparently, it just didn’t turn out that many nominations this year. Let’s get back to the real snubs, which, let's all say it together, “Model by Wallows”! I know, maybe next year.

The full nominations list will be listed here, but let us know who you will be rooting for, what snubs are a part of your villain origin story, and whether you will be watching to see who takes home the coveted Album of the Year award.
