As the many things marcel and I have in common, one of the most pressing matters has to be the fact that we both have small feel with small shoes on. Regardless if you share this fun fact with sir Marcel, you should check out this movie while you can.

Marcel the Shell with Shoes on, follows the story of a tiny shell who lives in a now Airbnb home with his nana Connie. This home was once filled with a whole community of shells and other fun creatures but has now been abandoned and left only with Marcel and Connie. Even though Marcel and his nana have figured out how to survive with only the two of them, the question still lingers in Marcel's mind, “Where is my family?”. This hour 30-minute movie was a wonderful delight the whole way through. I have to admit I never was a huge fan of the original viral YouTube videos. It was never that I hated them, I just didn’t watch them. I was a big counter-culture youth, which might seem very “duh” as I was a teenager, we’re all kind of counter-culture. The cult following behind this tiny shell is also inspiring for every creative as a short YouTube video was uploaded to the platform back in 2010. The original video now has over 30,000,000 views. I do wish I had least watched and enjoyed in secret, as I did with One Direction and Taylor Swift, but what I am a huge fan of is A24 and their now wide collection of work. From the moment I sobbed at the trailer, I knew I needed to watch his movie.

The extremely fun and lighthearted “documentary” is a great watch for the entire family. After the first watch, my initial thoughts were, “I need to watch this again” and, “I should bring my family”. Creator Dean Fleischer Camp writes, “Growth is the only evidence of life” which is a theme that carries throughout the entire film. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a film that truly is so “feel good” and leaves you truly optimistic at the end. Go watch while you can.
