Why Adding Any Taylor Song to Your Soundtrack, Automatically Makes It Perfect.

I recently watched The Summer I Turned Pretty and as great as the show was all I could think of was, “I can’t wait to save this soundtrack to my Spotify account”. This soundtrack was spectacular in all aspects but the main point that stood out to me was the copious amount of Taylor tracks. I have been a pretty huge Taylor fan my entire existence, most times because of the patriarchy I spent this time in secret. Now I am a fan that screams her lyrics at the top of my lungs with the windows rolled down barreling down the PCH at a sensible 75 MPH. So maybe not barreling at all but the intent is still there. Nevertheless, the polarizing image of Taylor and her music is another discussion in and of itself but I hope we as a majority can agree, Taylor Swift slaps.

I think those of us who were crying in our bedrooms over a boy that waved to his friend behind us, completely ignoring our existence, can relate to the teenage heartbreak that Taylor cultivated early on in her career. As she has grown as an artist, I have had the great pleasure of growing with her and being able to have a soundtrack to my life every couple of years as she releases new music. The way Taylor can tell a story and convey emotion on any end of the spectrum is truly magical. When given the stamp of approval, being able to have a Taylor track in your movie or TV show is truly the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae. Choosing the perfect song to accompany a scene is crucial as it can make or break the way viewers enjoy the moment and how deep it leaves an impression on the audience. So naturally, adding a Taylor Song with her (in my opinion) nearly perfect discography will make any scene hit.
